The Washington Sun announced today an exclusive licensing agreement with Capital Weather, the D.C. region’s most credible and reliable source for weather coverage.

Capital Weather started as an independent website in 2004, partnered with The Washington Post starting in 2008, and became independent again in 2026.

As part of this new partnership, The Washington Sun will be the only news organization to host its daily forecast, updated multiple times throughout the day.

“People who live and work in Washington, D.C., deserve weather information they can trust, delivered by people who deeply understand our commitment to keeping our community informed and safe,” said The Washington Sun’s CEO, Arielle Elliott. “We’re thrilled to have the expertise of Capital Weather and their extensive track record of accuracy and trust featured on The Washington Sun.”
